Flexitime Working

Organizations have to implement new ways of working styles for an effective and efficient workforce planning. To increase the productivity the organization should make proper use of its resources and especially of the human resources. At the same time the organization should provide employee satisfaction to ensure that employees feel secure working in that organization.

Now-a-days organizations are encouraging flexi-time working for the employees as it provides efficient working and give the employees the required freedom too. Flexitime working is encouraged because the organization get the maximum out put from the employee and the productivity of employee also increases. It helps the employees to work from home or work in shifts or term-time working, or staggered hours or compressed hours working. The flexi-time working is a concept which gives the employees a freedom to work as well as gives them a feeling of ownership within the organization. The organization benefits because the employee is working during the odd hours as well as even hours. The availability of the employee increases so does the output of the employee.

The concept of flexi-time has been developed for employees who have young children at their home. These employees may be at home but they are working from home and they are taking the responsibility of the work as well as their child too. Young women are given special privilege to work from home as they have to look after their children. But many organizations do not encourage flexitime working as it brings down the productivity of an individual. But in most cases companies do encourage flexi-time working because they believe that the employee should be able to give maximum out put in minimum time frame. The employee should be an asset to the organization and not a liability and by giving them flexi-time working the organization gives the employee the freedom of work along with ownership of the work. There are many companies who believed that flexi-time working has led to an increase of expenses in the organization but they have also realized that the concept of flexi-time working keeps the employee loyal towards the organization.

During this global recession many organizations have encouraged its workforce to work from home so that it cut down the expenses of the office. It is easy to maintain the fewer workforces. The workforce gets its flexi-time working and the organization has benefited by cutting down the office expense so it beneficial both ways. Many small and medium size organizations still continue to encourage this concept because they do not have to maintain a huge workforce and the organization expenses are also curtailed. In the global market flexi-time working has been encouraged across organizations as it is more beneficial for organizations than the regular working hours.

  1. The good side of flexible working hours is for people to work freely and high-spirited at any time of the day. But it must be clear to them the grounds to avoid abuse.
